SUNNYVALE, Calif. — May 8, 2006 — Omneon Video Networks today announced that TV 2, Norway’s most popular commercial broadcaster, is using Omneon Spectrum™ media server systems for ingest, storage, and playout of programming for its new multichannel broadcast platform. Supplied and installed by Bergen and Oslo-based broadcast systems dealer Video 4, the new Omneon server systems enable flexible and highly automated play-to-air.

TV 2 installed the Omneon Spectrum systems as part of a larger transmission system designed to handle playout of entertainment and sports programming for TV 2 Zebra. The system has now been expanded to include the main channel TV 2 and five new football channels. The Spectrum server system at TV 2’s Bergen facility is integrated with Pro-Bel’s Morpheus automation system, also delivered by Video 4. The tight integration of Morpheus MediaBall technology with Omneon’s flexible architecture gives TV 2 the ability to package even the most complex sequences of events simply and easily.
