Omneon, Inc. announced today that Joseph Kennedy is leaving as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. The Board of Directors has appointed Lawrence Kaplan, currently Vice Chairman of the Board, to serve as the Company’s interim President and Chief Executive Officer, while conducting a search for a permanent successor. Mr. Kaplan co-founded Omneon in 1998 as President and CEO, and has been with Omneon since that time.
Jon Castor, Chairman of the Board, said, “We want to thank Joe for his leadership over the past five years, during which Omneon enjoyed tremendous growth and became a recognized leader in the industry." Jon added, "I would also like to welcome Larry to his new role. Larry’s deep knowledge of the Company, customers and products make him uniquely qualified to serve Omneon in this important transition role.”
Mr. Kaplan said, “I look forward to working with the entire team at Omneon as we serve our customers, continue to develop world-class products, and execute to our strategic plan.”
Prior to co-founding Omneon in 1998, Mr. Kaplan held senior management positions at Sony, Grass Valley Group and Tektronix. He is well known in the television industry and is a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers.
