Omneon Video Networks announced today, that Diego Gilles has joined the company as the Latin American Sales Manager. Gilles will be responsible for the development of distribution channels in Mexico, as well as Central and South America

"The knowledge that Diego brings from years of experience in the video industry in the Latin markets will serve Omneon well as we expand our sales and marketing of the VIDEO AREA NETWORK™ infrastructure for new media," said Ed Hobson, vice president of sales. "He developed much of the market there in his prior capacity with other companies and I'm pleased that he will be joining the sales team full time."

Gilles joins Omneon from eTech where he was instrumental in establishing Omneon's distribution partners in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. In his two years at eTech, Gilles represented manufacturers that included NVision (now ADC), Ensemble Designs and Graham Patten Systems. Prior to eTech, Gilles was responsible for the sales development for Scitex Digital Video (Abekas and Immix) in the same region. Previously, he spent four years as the sales manager for the Argentinian distributor of Abekas, Immix, Telex, Quantel, Hitachi and Chyron. Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Gilles is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. He has extensive broadcast experience, having worked for the main television station of Argentina for twelve years as an installation and maintenance engineer. He has a degree in electronic engineering from the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) of Argentina
