The purple.XL software option also includes the DVMPEG encoder software from Darim that develops MPEG files for distributing videos via the web or on DVD. Omneon's Networked Content Server is an open, standards-based infrastructure for format and application-independent workflow. The system utilizes 1394 I/O with FAST's purple, as an edge device, allowing direct transfers to a common file system. The system easily scales to accommodate increasing bandwidth, I/O and users as collaborative workflow expands.
