CBC/Radio-Canada
has acquired the Omneon Media Server System for on-air playout
of national French TV programming from its Montreal centralcasting
system. The
Omneon server will enable CBC/Radio-Canada to move to a networked
storage infrastructure that includes extensive automation. Multiple
Omneon
MCP 2101 MEDIASERVERS will be configured in an Extended File
System (EFS) to provide over 30 channels of I/O capacity. The
MCP 2101
MEDIASERVER will be featured in Omneon’s NAB booth (South Hall #SU5437).
"We are extremely
pleased to have one of the most prestigious and technically advanced
broadcasters in North America become part
of the Omneon family of customers," says Adolfo Rodriguez, Omneon
Director of Product Marketing. "CBC/Radio-Canada has very stringent
technical requirements which manufacturers must meet before being accepted
as suppliers. The fact that Omneon met and exceeded these requirements
says a great deal about the technical capabilities of the Omneon Media
Server System."
CBC/Radio-Canada chose Omneon based on technical criteria,
and also because of the Omneon system’s open architecture and
interoperability. Acura Technology will install the Media
Server System along with the
appropriate automation software and integrated applications, resulting
in a highly streamlined and efficient operation for CBC/Radio-Canada.
