Editware announces a strategic alliance with Omneon
Video Networks of Sunnyvale, CA. Through a customized control
protocol, Editware’s
new Fastrack media controller allows editing with source material
stored on Omneon’s multi-channel servers.
The first installation benefiting from this alliance
is Australia’s
largest regional broadcaster, Prime TV. Prime, with affiliates in
New South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Gold Coast, has installed
the Fastrack media controller along with Omneon Media Server
Systems as they approach their ultimate goal of tapeless digital video production.
With Editware’s Fastrack media controller
and Omneon servers, Prime TV has a powerful real-time editing
solution. Media stored
on the Omneon server for broadcast can be directly edited using
the Fastrack, resulting in an overall increase in production efficiency.
For example, the repetitive task of producing many similar promos
is now done in a fraction of the time required before the upgrade.
"Editware’s exclusive representatives in Australia,
Gencom Technology, worked closely with Omneon to integrate Fastrack
with Omneon and other post production equipment at Prime’s
new facility," states Bob Lefcovich, VP of Sales for Editware.
"The Fastrack media controller was designed for installations such
as
this."
"Omneon's
support of multiple data types, combined with the Fastrack editor's
device control allows customers to work in whatever format they
wish, whether it be ITU-601, DVCPRO,
MPEG, or HDCAM," added Adolfo Rodriguez, Omneon Director of
Product Marketing. "Customers can even choose to master in
a different format than the original material, all in real time.
This is the kind of flexibility customers are seeking."
Designed for use with video servers, Fastrack combines the power
of a linear editing system with the key elements of a non-linear
system, including immediate access to any frame of any server-resident
source clip. Fastrack inserts, deletes or changes material on a
server-based timeline or playlist through an intuitive, convenient
graphical user interface.
