Omneon Continues Asia Expansion With Key Appointments in Technical Support and Sales Roles

Three new appointments complement new Omneon offices in Asia/Pacific market and strengthen local technical and customer service support

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Oct. 26, 2004

Omneon Video Networks today announced three new appointments that substantially strengthen the company’s growing presence in the Asia/Pacific region, providing new and existing clients with added resources in areas ranging from account management to technical support. The new appointments include Manager of Technical Operations Terry Spittle, Technical Resource Manager Chew Kok On, and Sales Account Manager Elson Soong.

“The success of our Omneon Spectrum™ media server system worldwide has been stimulated by surging sales in the Asia/Pacific region, and these new appointments are one more step in bringing high-quality, localized support to customers in this critical market,” said Omneon’s Asia Pacific Sales Vice President Eric Masters.

“The addition of Terry, Chew, and Elson to the complement of Omneon personnel in new offices serving Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan will enable us to maintain the growth we’ve experienced over the past year, while also ensuring we’re positioned to meet the current and future needs of all our clients. I’m confident that the experience and expertise all three bring to our Asia/Pacific operations will prove key in the company’s continued expansion.”

Moving from the role of Omneon’s technical and operational support manager for Europe, Middle East, and Africa to that of manager of technical operations for Asia/Pacific, Spittle brings more than 20 years of experience in the design, deployment, and support of complex mission-critical broadcast and corporate video communications systems. He established his extensive knowledge of on-air production and automation systems while serving in technical management positions at Sony Broadcast and Professional Europe, Philips Broadcast, PESA Switching Systems, and B2Bvideo Network Corporation.

Chew Kok On comes to the role of technical resource manager for Omneon’s Asia/Pacific operations with 11 years experience working with Southeast Asia broadcast groups including Hong Kong’s TVB, Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting, and APT; China’s Zhejiang TV; Taiwan’s Public Television Service and ETTV; and Singapore’s Zee TV. Over five years with Singapore-based Symbolic Technologies and another six with Pinnacle Systems’ Singapore branch, he led support staff in providing clients with technical support services including installation, training, troubleshooting, and integration with third-party systems and applications.

In the role of sales account manager for the Asia/Pacific market, Soong will be responsible for liaising with key broadcast accounts and building new relationships with customers throughout the region. He joins Omneon with extensive experience in the broadcast arena, previously working in sales at Leitch, where he cemented valuable relationships with Asian broadcast groups, provided support for system design and integration, and helped the company realize a threefold boost in sales within the Southeast Asia market.

Omneon opened its Asia/Pacific Sales Office in Hong Kong and a Customer Service and Support Center in Singapore in May 2004. Recent sales of the Omneon Spectrum™ media server in the Asia/Pacific market include installations at Network Ten in Australia, CJ Media in Korea, and ThaiDay.com in Thailand.
