Omneon Video Networks today announced that it has established operations in the Middle East with the opening of a new Dubai office and the appointment of Harout Torossian as the new regional sales manager for the Middle East region. Torossian joins Omneon with more than 25 years of experience in international broadcast sales and management.

"Harout's experience in high-level sales to clients throughout the Middle East will benefit Omneon operations enormously while bringing our support services closer to customers in that region," said Alan Hoggarth, Omneon's vice president of operations for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. "His knowledge of sales, finance, and advanced broadcast systems will be invaluable as we continue our expansion within Middle Eastern markets. We're very pleased to welcome him to the company."

Prior to accepting his new position with Omneon, Torossian was regional sales manager for the Middle East and Africa for Scientific Atlanta. During his seven years with the company, he delivered CATV and satellite solutions to major broadcast and telecommunications groups in these markets. Earlier, as Philips Broadcast Television Systems' regional manager in the same markets, Torossian helped the company to win significant contracts for broadcast facility installations. He began his career at Ampex Corporation, where he oversaw marketing, sales, service, finance, personnel, training, and distribution of all products to the Middle East and Asia.

Recent Omneon sales within the Middle East market include installations at Showtime in Dubai and Riyadh Television. This latest appointment is part of Omneon's ongoing strategy for global growth and follows the appointment of Greg Hoskin as vice president of EMEA sales and the expansion of technical and support services announced earlier this month.
