Omneon Video Networks today announced the appointment of Reiner Frenken as regional manager for Central and Eastern Europe, Russian Federation, and Eurasia ( Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan). Within this role, Frenken will support existing Omneon customers while also working to make Omneon Spectrum™ media server systems the first choice for broadcasters in developing European and Central Asian markets.

“Reiner’s more than 20 years’ experience in introducing broadcast solutions to clients throughout Central and Eastern Europe will be critical to the success of our server systems in the region’s rapidly expanding markets,” said Greg Hoskin, vice president of sales, EMEA, at Omneon Video Networks. “We’re very pleased to welcome Reiner to the company. His familiarity with the emerging markets of Europe and background in managing sales to those markets make him a valuable addition to our sales team.”

Frenken previously served as an area manager and business development manager for broadcast direct and distribution sales at Thomson Broadcast & Media Solutions/Grass Valley South Africa and Moscow, respectively. He earlier held the role of area sales manager with the Grass Valley Group GmbH in Cologne. Throughout this period, Frenken oversaw sales efforts in Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, Middle East, Russian Federation, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Baltics, and Equatorial and South Africa. He also was a sales manager with Tektronix Video and Networking Division in Germany ― during the time its Grass Valley subsidiary was formed ― and with Sony Deutschland GmbH at the beginning of his career.

Frenken will be supported out of Omneon’s U.K. office and report to Greg Hoskin while maintaining a day-to-day office in the region.
