Automated Migration
MediaBridge automates the migration of content from Avid/Pinnacle (MediaStream) and Grass Valley servers (Profile and K2), to an industry-standard MXF OP1a file format, directly playable on Omneon servers. Content owners with archives of material can now seamlessly migrate to the Omneon platform. MediaBridge automatically collects content from watch folders on legacy servers or archive systems, processes it on the fly and places the converted content on the Omneon system of choice.
Active Processing
This on-the-fly processing from MediaBridge means that content can be moved from a legacy server at the time it is needed. As migrated content lands on the Omneon system it is instantly accessible, without needing to wait for processing to finish. Content conversion and migration is achieved in a single step, streamlining workflows and saving valuable time.
Preservation of Ancillary Data
Alternative solutions rely on transcoding to convert content, often losing important ancillary data and slowing the conversion process. MediaBridge preserves all ancillary data throughout the conversion process, including VBI, timecode information and even SOM and EOM data stored in the original clip.
No Transcoding Needed
For owners of both MediaStream and Grass Valley systems, no video transcoding is needed to complete the conversion, making the process very fast. Regardless of video format, the only processing required is rewrapping to MXF-OP1a and, in certain cases, decompression of the audio – video essence is left untouched. Once rewrapped, the content can be played on any Omneon video server.
Unattended Mode
Once configured, MediaBridge operates completely unattended; staff can focus on other tasks, safe in the knowledge that the converted content will arrive in the correct location and in the correct format.
Web-Based User Interface
Configuring the MediaBridge application is simple with its Web-based user interface. Users can configure a processing chain that defines the type of conversion they want to perform, the storage location of the source content and the desired location for the converted content. Storage locations for source and destination content can be local or network drives or even FTP locations, allowing converted content to be placed directly onto a Spectrum server or Omneon MediaGrid system. Monitoring features allow users to see the jobs in the queue, their status and even the completion percentage. Incomplete conversions may be manually re-started.
Extensible API
An XML-RPC API allows MediaBridge to integrate into third-party systems, such as archive management, hierarchical storage management systems (HSMs), asset management and automation.
