The majority of Omneon equipment is sold in the United Kingdom by resellers and distributors. These indirect sales channels act as the importer of record for the equipment into the United Kingdom. Thus the dealer has the legal responsibility to:
Under the proposed UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, for equipment that is purchased from an Omneon channel after August 2005, the channel is required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of WEEE that the new purchase replaces, on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis.
Under the UK WEEE Regulations, the channel is also required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any new electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from the channel after August 2005, when that new equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE.
Channels of Omneon products are required to provide these arrangements starting from 1 April 2007.
