MediaPort I/O

MediaPortThe modular design of Omneon MediaPorts allow for configurations that precisely fit each facility's requirements without forcing the purchase of unneeded I/O. Also, because MediaPorts operate independently of other components of the system, media I/O can be added without adding additional storage or processing components.

Omneon Video Networks provides a full line of MediaPort interface adapters for video, audio, timecode and control. As with all Omneon Spectrum media server system components, these MediaPorts can be included in initial configurations or added to server system already on-line. Omneon Spectrum systems can support multiple MediaPorts to support multi-channel and mixed format requirements.

Each modular MediaPort can be added, removed or configured on line and can support a broad range of formats, profiles and bit rates.

Omneon MediaPorts provide the ultimate in redundancy and reliability. Each MediaPort incorporates an independent power supply and interfaces to the server system infrastructure through a robust high-speed serial data bus.

HD/SD MediaPorts

MediaPort 5320

The Omneon MediaPort 5320 is a family of powerful HD/SD MPEG-2 encode/decode devices supplying two play/record channels per module, with up to two modules per enclosure. Supporting a wide range of HD and SD bit rates and MPEG-2 encoding formats, the MediaPort 5320 offers broadcasters maximum ability to balance picture quality and storage utilization, with excellent support for today's file-based production workflow. The MediaPort 5320 provides higher channel density and a far lower cost per channel than standalone HD encoders, and includes HD playback capbility as well. Like all MediaPorts, it integrates easily into both new and existing Omneon Spectrum™ SD and HD systems without requiring changes to other system components, simplifying deployment and operation. Its flexible support for both HD and SD MPEG-2 (including IMX) eases the transition from SD to HD and supports both SD and HD ingest and playback in a single device.

MediaPort 5500

The Omneon MediaPort 5500 provides flexible HD and SD MPEG-2 playback with full support for mixed-mode playlists. Offering two channels independently configurable for HD or SD operation, the 5500 up- or down-converts the playlist material as needed for the selected output format, and adjusts the resulting picture according to recorded AFD or aspect-ratio control information. Audio support includes both embedded (16 channels) and AES (4 channels), and the units provide full reproduction of recorded ancillary data (VANC or VBI) as needed.

MediaPort 6321

The Omneon MediaPort 6321 provides expanded support for production workflows that use the popular DV encoding method. Offering 2 play/record channels, these units can eliminate cumbersome transcode steps, delivering edit-friendly material wrapped in industry-standard QuickTime or MXF. The 6321 supports both HD (DVCPRO HD) and SD DV variants (DV, DVCPRO, and DVCPRO 50), with each of its two channels independently configurable. The units provide up to 8 channels of embedded audio, and full capture/playback of ancillary data (VANC or VBI as appropriate).

MediaPort 4010

The MediaPort 4010 provides an integrated ingest solution for HD MPEG content that simplifies workflow and reduces time to air. By combining MPEG transport stream ingest and de-multiplexing in a single unit, the Omneon MediaPort 4010 allows you move directly to a file-based workflow. The MediaPort 4010 supports bit rates from 19 to 78 Mbps. It also supports direct ingest of ASI streams via backhaul feeds up to 100 Mbps.

HD MediaPorts

MediaPort 6100

The Omneon 6100 series DVCPRO HD MediaPort provides record and play of HD video and digital audio, compressing it for storage on the Omneon Spectrum media server, using the DVCPRO HD compression format.

MediaPort 5620

The Omneon MediaPort 5620 enhances and simplifies AVC-Intra workflows with its two play/record channels, offering a choice of either Class 50 or Class 100 support per channel. Material recorded is delivered in MXF Op1a compliant wrappers, improving interoperability. The products support 16 channels of embedded or 4 channels of AES audio per video channel, and full capture/playback of VANC.

SD MediaPorts

MediaPort 5220

The MediaPort 5220 family provides up to four record/play channels of SD MPEG-2 (I-frame, Long GOP, and IMX) video with the option to upgrade later to the MediaPort 5320. This offers SD broadcasters full protection of their SD investment, allowing flexibility in scheduling the step-up to HD operation, and minimizing disruption because the server components remain unchanged.

MediaPort 5000

The MediaPort 5000 family offers DV, MPEG-2, and IMX record/play capabilities in a high-density package. Providing 3 or 6 channels (1 or 2 record/play plus 2 or 4 play-only) of SD video with embedded or separate audio, the 5000 delivers unmatched SD flexibility with industry-leading channel density of up to 6 channels in only 1 rack unit!

SDI and SDTI MediaPort

MediaPort 1002

The MediaPort 1002 SDI/SDTI MediaPort provides connectivity for ITU-601 (uncompressed component digital video) and SMPTE 305 (SDTI, Serial Data Transport Interface). Audio I/O is provided through an AES/EBU interface and supports four stereo pairs, or audio can be embedded and de-embedded in the SDI stream.
