The modular design of Omneon MediaPorts allow for configurations that precisely fit each facility's requirements without forcing the purchase of unneeded I/O. Also, because MediaPorts operate independently of other components of the system, media I/O can be added without adding additional storage or processing components.
Omneon Video Networks provides a full line of MediaPort interface adapters for video, audio, timecode and control. As with all Omneon Spectrum media server system components, these MediaPorts can be included in initial configurations or added to server system already on-line. Omneon Spectrum systems can support multiple MediaPorts to support multi-channel and mixed format requirements.
Each modular MediaPort can be added, removed or configured on line and can support a broad range of formats, profiles and bit rates.
Omneon MediaPorts provide the ultimate in redundancy and reliability. Each MediaPort incorporates an independent power supply and interfaces to the server system infrastructure through a robust high-speed serial data bus.
HD MediaPorts & MultiPorts
MediaPort 5300
The Omneon MediaPort 5300 is a family of powerful HD MPEG-2 encode/decode devices supplying one play/record plus one play channel per module, with up to two modules per enclosure. Supporting a wide range of bit rates, the MediaPort 5300 offers broadcasters maximum ability to balance picture quality and storage utilization. The MediaPort 5300 provides higher channel density and a far lower cost per channel than standalone HD encoders, and includes HD playback capbility as well. Like all MediaPorts, it integrates easily into both new and existing Omneon Spectrum™ SD and HD systems without requiring changes to other system components, simplifying deployment and operation.

MediaPort 4010
The MediaPort 4010 provides an integrated ingest solution for HD MPEG content that simplifies workflow and reduces time to air. By combining MPEG transport stream ingest and de-multiplexing in a single unit, the Omneon MediaPort 4010 allows you move directly to a file-based workflow. The MediaPort 4010 supports bit rates from 19 to 78 Mbps. It also supports direct ingest of ASI streams via backhaul feeds up to 100 Mbps.

MultiPort 4100 Series
The MultiPort 4100 Series supports simultaneous
playback of both SD and HD MPEG-2 material. In addition to its MPEG-2 decoding capability, this family of media interface components provides built-in up- and down-conversion
enabling broadcasters to mix HD and SD material on the same timeline, with synchronized continuous HD and SD outputs. For broadcasters who have a mix of SD and HD
material, and who must support both HD and SD channels, the MultiPort 4100 Series reduces automation complexity in half since both HD and SD outputs can be controlled as a single
channel.
With support for up to 2 channels of MPEG-2 HD and SD outputs (4 total outputs, each HD/SD pair as an independent channel), the MultiPort 4100 Series supports LGOP and I-frame HD playback for bitrates ranging from 19 Mbps to 78 Mbps and LGOP, I-frame and IMX SD playback for bitrates ranging from 3 Mbps to 50 Mbps. Both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 chroma sampling is supported along with 1080i/25, 1080i/29.97, 720p/50 and 720p/59.94.
For broadcasters using an external converter for up- or down-conversion, the MultiPort 4100 Series includes connectors and delay compensation to accommodate these devices.
MultiPort 4000 Series
The MultiPort 4000 series combines the modular design and reliability for which Omneon Spectrum™ components are known, with support for a broad range of HD bit rates, profiles and even external converters. HD MultiPorts can be included in initial configurations or added to Omneon server systems already on-line. Omneon Spectrum systems also support multiple MultiPorts along with multiple single-channel MediaPorts for high channel counts and mixed format requirements such as combinations of HD and SD formats in the same system. The MultiPort 4000 series supports MPEG2 HD with bit rates from 19 Mbps to 78 Mbps, both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 profiles in the same timeline, and 1080i/25, 1080i/29.97, and 720p/59.94 formats.
DV, DVCPRO, MPEG & IMX MediaPorts
MediaPort 1001a
The MediaPort 1001a is designed for facilities that require DV and MPEG Video I/O and do not need to encode Long GOP MPEG media. The format is selectable between DV (25 Mbps), DVCPRO (25 Mbps), DVCPRO 50 and MPEG-2. Encoding of MPEG-2 is available in I-frame only at 25 to 50 Mbps. Decoding is ML@MP and ML@ 4:2:2 profile. Long GOP clips (from 3.0 to 24.9 Mbps) can also be decoded. Audio I/O is provided through an AES/EBU interface that supports four stereo pairs. SDI embedded audio capabilities (per SMPTE 272M) are standard, eliminating the need for external embedders and de-embedders.
MediaPort 1003a
The MediaPort 1003a provides all the capabilities of the MediaPort 1001a and adds the ability to encode Long GOP MPEG content in addition to I-Frame MPEG. Encoding of MPEG-2 is available in I-Frame at 25 to 50 Mbps, 3 Mbps to 15 Mbps Long GOP in both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 profiles, and 15 Mbps to 25 Mbps Long GOP in 4:2:2 profile.
MediaPort 1010a
The MediaPort 1010a offers the ultimate flexibility to choose encoding and decoding formats and profiles. The MediaPort 1010a supports all the capabilities of the MediaPort 1003a and adds the ability to encode and decode IMX-based content.
SDI, SDTI & DVB/ASI MediaPorts
MediaPort 1002
The MediaPort 1002 SDI/SDTI MediaPort provides connectivity for ITU-601 (uncompressed component digital video) and SMPTE 305 (SDTI, Serial Data Transport Interface). Audio I/O is provided through an AES/EBU interface and supports four stereo pairs, or audio can be embedded and de-embedded in the SDI stream.
MediaPort 1005
The MediaPort 1005 DVB/ASI MediaPort supports MPEG transport streams and control. The MediaPort 1005 supports only transport streams on DVB/ASI inputs and outputs and provides the ability to store and playback complete transport streams. The MediaPort 1005 is optimized for transport streams so that users do not need to de-multiplex and re-multiplex elementary streams. Ideal applications for the MediaPort 1005 are time delay of complete transport streams, or NVOD (Near Video on Demand) applications in which a complex transport stream can represent multiple start times of a specific program.
MultiPorts
For facilities that require the maximum number of playout channels in the minimum amount of space, Omneon developed the MultiPort 3003 and MultiPort 3006 MultiPorts. These I/O components combine three or six channels of MPEG2 playout into a single rack unit. MultiPorts can be combined with other MediaPorts and Multiports to support precise playout requirements.
MultiPort 3003
The MultiPort MultiPort 3003 is an interface adapter for video, audio, timecode and control that provides playout for three channels of MPEG-2 video (each with up to 16 embedded audio channels--48 total) within a single 1-RU device. The MultiPort 3003 can be used as the sole output interface for an Omneon Media Server System or as an output component of a larger system. The MultiPort 3003 includes redundant power supplies with failover capability for maximum reliability.
MultiPort 3006
The MultiPort MultiPort 3006 provides playout for six channels of MPEG-2 video (each with up to 16 embedded audio channels--96 total) within a single 1-RU device. The MultiPort 3006 can be used as the sole output interface for an Omneon Media Server System or as an output component of a larger system. Multiple MultiPort 3006 units can be used in a single system to achieve high output channel counts in the smallest possible space. The MultiPort 3006 includes redundant power supplies with failover capability for maximum reliability.
