Registration number for UK WEEE Regulations: WEE/BF0079UU
The majority of Omneon equipment is sold in the United Kingdom by resellers and distributors. These indirect sales channels act as the importer of record for the equipment into the United Kingdom. Thus the dealer has the legal responsibility to:
- Register as the WEEE producer in the United Kingdom; and,
- Finance arrangements for collection and recycling of WEEE arising from Omneon equipment that the channel sells in the United Kingdom
Under the proposed UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, for equipment that is purchased from an Omneon channel after August 2005, the channel is required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of WEEE that the new purchase replaces, on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis.
Under the UK WEEE Regulations, the channel is also required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any new electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from the channel after August 2005, when that new equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE.
Channels of Omneon products are required to provide these arrangements starting from 1 April 2007.
New environmental costs are:
- You pay for transportation of your WEEE to Omneon’s appointed recycler in the UK
- Channel pays for the costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the WEEE to meet the targets set by the UK WEEE Regulations
- Channel pays for the costs of data management and reporting to the Environment Agency to demonstrate compliance with all administrative requirements of the UK WEEE Regulations
If Omneon is the importer of record, Omneon will be responsible for compliance.
To determine the importer of record to meet the WEEE requirements, please supply the following information:
Omneon will determine the proper importer of record and email the contact information.
WEEE Reporting Recycling Data for Omneon Equipment in the United Kingdom
Under Section 29 of the proposed WEEE Regulations, the channels must provide annual information of the quantities and categories of electrical and electronic equipment put on the market, reused, recycled and recovered within the UK.
EARN will prepare the recycling data report for Omneon.
